                                        What is Thinking Games camp?

Ray Garrison has been organizing Thinking Games camps since 2002.  They have been very popular!  Every day there are multiple tournaments, including Risk and Stratego.  The other tournaments vary every year.  In addition to organized tournament play, there are a multitude of thinking games available to play, at least sixty!  In addition, many games are taught throughout the week.  Game instruction could include Cribbage, Backgammon, Go, Chinese Chess, Shogi, Bridge, or any other thinking game that you want to learn!

The Advanced Thinking Games camp will focus on more complicated games such as Go, Axis & Allies, Shogi, Backgammon, Bridge, etc. and will also discuss advanced game theory.  In addition, the older campers learn to mentor younger campers in the regular Thinking Games camp.  High School students are also welcome to join.  This camp premiered in 2012 and has been a success.

Interested in learning how to be a counselor?

Arbor Chess offers a CIT program, "Counselor In Training".  If your child is between the ages of 14 and 18, you may register as a CIT.

CITs should register for the camp or camps of their choice, then upon completing registration, email raygarrison@arborchess.com and express your desire to be a CIT.  CIT campers are still considered campers and will need to complete all the registration requirements of day campers.  During the camp week, CITs will be given a variety of responsibilities including teaching young children, supervising children, and general tasks.

When a CIT turns 18, he or she may be offered a paid counselor position if they have shown excellent leadership skills.
